AASC Sponsors An Alcala Medical & Dental Mission
On May 6, 2006, AASC sponsored a Medical Mission to help our townspeople who do not have access nor means to seek medical help.
To raise funds for this mission, AASC held a Luau in November of 2005. In lieu of an admission fee, each family was encouraged to make a donation towards the medical mission.
With help from friends of AASC, we also organized a Golf Tournament in San Diego, California. Thanks to Chairman Alfonso Ortega and Co-Chair Geoffrey delos Santos, the tournament was a huge success. Aside from the profit from the golf fees, many volunteered as hole sponsors, making up the bulk of the funds raised from the tournament.
Along with the golfers and hole sponsors, there were the wonderful people who worked behind the scenes to make this affair successful: Dante Agdeppa, Ricky and Helen Balagot, Archie and Sarah Ortega, Rey Ortega.
And ever ready to assist with AASC’s causes were Gil and Virgie Duque, Rodie and Myrna Larioza, Remia Corpuz, Nida Supnet, and Rosario delos Santos, Noli Loria, to name a few.
I remain in awe of those who also sent in monetary donations: Felicio Lorenzo, Lorna Thoppiyil, Erlyn Bisarra, Liza Fink (and thanks for taking care of registration and shirt sale at the Golf Tournament), Manuel and Fe Millan.
Some AASC members also went home with medical supplies they collected over time, which were donated to the Puericulture Center in town and the Health Center in Anulid. (And they shall remain nameless since I will be in deep doo-doo if I miss anyone’s name.)
Here are some pictures from the Medical Mission held in Alcala so you can judge for yourself how much Alcala welcomed AASC's little gesture of help.
